Thean Hou Temple | 16th Feb 2024
On February 16, 2024, I got up at the crack of dawn, around 7:30am, all thanks to Jack, our old dog, who decided it was time to wake up with his barking. I found Ma already up, doing her morning routine of mopping the floor. I suggested we grab breakfast together, so I packed up my gear, including 4D and Miss Mavic, and we headed to a different spot this time, Taman Megah.
At the eatery, a cat with a bell caught my eye, and I started filming. This cat, comfortable among the breakfast crowd, gave me the runaround, but I managed to capture its movements. People noticed what I was doing, but I was focused on the cat, making this my first outdoor cat film.
Later, I decided to revisit Thean Hou Temple in KL, a place I filmed back in 2014 with my first drone. Now, with better equipment and more skills, I flew Miss Mavic for some up-close aerial shots of the temple. Inside, I filmed various people engaging in prayer and traditions, capturing the essence of family and tradition. A young girl, dressed up and standing by a suitcase in front of the temple, gave me a look that took me back to my own childhood experiences with such traditions.
After returning home, I worked on a new video art piece about the temple, tying it to my childhood memories. I finished before dinner, feeling proud and seeing improvement in my work.
Reflecting on my journey, I acknowledged the challenges and doubts of pursuing art but remained committed to inspiring others and continuing on the path of babyPRO.
Drawing a fortune at the temple, it advised patience and foresight, resonating with my current reflections. Despite doubts, I’m reminded to stay the course, trusting in the journey ahead.
Warmly, babyPRO
