A Friendship Tribute Video Art | 26th Feb 2024
Dear Audiences,
On February 26th, 2024, after Miss Mavic crashed, I had a big choice to make. So, Ma and I took her to a service center. They told us fixing her would cost a lot, more than just getting a new one with the insurance I had. But, oh no, I couldn’t use my DJI Care insurance in Malaysia.
DJI support said it’s best to wait until I’m back in the Netherlands. That meant no Miss Mavic for the rest of my trip. It felt like a lost chance, but I remembered what the fortune said at Thean Hou Temple: sometimes, you gotta let go and slow down.
Losing Miss Mavic pushed me to try new things with my other drones. It wasn’t all bad.
In the afternoon, I worked on a video about my friend TJ and our friendship. We’ve done so much together, and looking back at all our adventures made me really happy. People on Instagram liked it too. It felt good to share something so personal.
In the evening, Ma had her Qigong, so I was on my own. I felt a bit tired but decided to go out anyway. I picked a Hindu temple on Google Maps and just went. At first, people there were a bit wary, but when I explained I wanted to learn and share about Hinduism, they opened up.
This temple was special because it was getting ready for a big ceremony in March, which I couldn’t stay for. But what really caught my attention was learning about the 12 years cycle of Hindu temples.
It’s a tradition where every 12 years, they have a significant ceremony, a kind of renewal and celebration of faith. It added an extra layer of magic to my visit, knowing I was witnessing a moment just before one of these grand cycles.
Filming there at night, with my own lights, made everything look magical.
I also had this cool moment with Mr. Moon. Seeing it so big and bright made me emotional. It felt like every full moon brought me on a new adventure. That night while looking for dinner, I also unexpectedly found another Hindu temple and got to film there too.
The people were kind, and I even got to film a closing ceremony.
It’s funny how when you just go with the flow, amazing things happen. Like running into my friend TJ twice in Malaysia, out of the blue. Or finding these temples and getting to share their stories. Even when things don’t go as planned, like with Miss Mavic crashing, it’s all part of the adventure. It’s about letting go, seeing where life takes you, and finding the magic in every moment.
Warmly, babyPRO
